Adoption. As a member of the pet community, you're likely aware that every year more than 4 million dogs and cats are euthanized due to lack of loving, caring homes. At Planet Dog, our charge is to significantly reduce this number by informing and educating people about adoption as a viable and responsible option - and we want to help you do the same.

In early 2008, we will announce the first Planet Dog retailer to be honored with the Adoption Champion Award. The intent of this annual, nomination-based award is to recognize and celebrate those very special retailers who "romp the extra mile" when it comes to social responsibility, philanthropy and advocacy for pet adoption.

Are you an Adoption Champion? If you hold regular adoption days (at least monthly) in your store or help support your local certified animal shelter, we want to know. Send us an email with the details and we will list you as an Adoption Champion on the PDOG Retailer section of planetdog.com. It's a great way to brand your store even before people walk through your doors.

Pack of Philanthropists. Some wise old dog once said "there's strength in numbers." That's why we created our Pack of Philanthropists. This pack runs in the same generous and caring circle as Planet Dog, matching our donations to the Planet Dog Foundation, supporting the Foundation's fundraising efforts through pro-bono work and donating products when needed. Most are right in our own backyard in Portland, Maine and some are our global partners.
